Hello there and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Wendy Fox and I’m a researcher and communication designer.
I work at digital design agency pixelpublic and until recently was a research assistant and lecturer in Audiovisual Translation at FTSK Germersheim, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, where I completed my PhD in Audiovisual Translation. I also have a Diploma in Communication Design from the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe. I write on subtitle processing, subtitle design, reception studies, and graphic design, having recently published in Translation Spaces (2016) and in forthcoming anthology New Directions in Cognitive and Empirical Translation Process Research (John Benjamins).
Concerning graphic design, I find myself constantly intrigued by patterns, typography, simple color schemes, illustration, and photography/film. Through my work, I aim to present a clear & organized message while incorporating bits of inspiration that I encounter on a daily basis.
My work in connecting subtitling and graphic design gained me the Karl Steinbuch Scholarship of the MFG Innovation Agency for ICT and Media (2013) and awards such as the Future Award (2013).
You can reach me via wendyleafox(ät)gmail.com – I’m fluent in German, English and Dutch.
