Integrated Titles for Notes on Blindness

Notes on Blindness is an award-winning documentary film from 2016, directed by Peter Middleton and James Spinney. It is based on a number of audio casettes recorded by John Hull that document his experiences with steadily deteriorating vision and ultimately complete loss of sight, as well as his autobiography Touching the Rock: An Experience of Blindness from 1990.

As the film not only deals with blindness as a topic but was also embedded in an entire accessibility campaign including a VR experience of blindness and various forms of audio description, the production company Archer’s Mark hired me to create integrated titles for their hard-of-hearing and deaf audiences.

The titles were screened in in London, are included on the Blu-ray and can be viewed in the US library of Netflix. Watch a short trailer of the titles below or find out more on the decision-making and design process in my blog.
