Memory Access – 3D Titles

During the workshop “Memory Access”, Robert Ochshorn showed us various ways of incorporating topics such as indexes, memory, and links into our work as designers. As I was working on creating integrated titles for the 3D film “Das Bl├╝mchen” at that time and was struggeling with the huge amounts of data, I used the workshop to learn how to create an automatism to determine the depth of specific points in 3D images. The little program calculates the distance between two corresponding pixels of the two images that make up the 3D image. This distance is then applied to the (sub)title to place it at the same depth as the speaker. With a lot of help from Robert, I was able to realize this concept and place the entire set of integrated titles not only close to the speakers but also on the same depth layer automatically.
